Potty Time!

Guess what I did today. I went pee-pee on the potty!! Everyone was so proud of me.

To celebrate, Mommy and Daddy gave me fruit snacks, a piece of chocolate, and some M&Ms. SNACKS, CHOCOLATE, MS...the 3 basic food groups (or at least, the 3 best extrinsic rewards for a toddler).

And More Summer Fun!

Gram and Pops came up for a visit late last month to "meet my baby brothers". Don't worry, guys, I won't tell them that the real reason you came was to see me. One night when they were here, we took them to our favorite German restaurant in Queensbury. Grammie and Papa joined us and when I saw both of my grandmas and both of my grandpas together in one place, I exclamed, "BOTH!"
My Gram is SO FUN! She played blocks with me and made me giggle by saying, "Hey, hey, hey!" and "Holy moly guacamole!"I've been taking good care of my brothers since they've come home from the hospital. I like to peek at them to make sure everything is A-OK.I'm Mommy's little helper!! I do a great job of putting nukkies in my babies' mouths when they are crying, throwing away dirty diapers, and putting empty bottles in the sink. What would they do without me? Hmmm...maybe I should ask for a raise.I love my brothers so much and do a great job snuggling them.
Me and Matthew (who I also call "sloppy" based on his eating habits):Me with little Nathan (who I also call "Floppy" because he is so fragile):
Time to eat, babies. I'll shake up the bottle - milkshake!
We've been having a great summer, and getting out much more than any of us would have expected. Time for another outing to enjoy the sunshine!I did some gardening up at Grammie and Papa's house this summer, too. I know the difference between a marigold, geranium, and pansy. Doesn't every 22 month old? It's so nice to play outside.Whoa! That tree is so tall!
On really hot days, I get out and play in my pool!

I love it when Mommy puts my hair up in "princess bows."I still love reading books. "Are You My Mother" and "Goodnight Gorilla" are among my favorites.I also like watching videos on YouTube. My favorites include classic songs from Sesame Street (e.g., Manamana, Rock around the Clock, Do de Duck), the Muppets (Beeker performing Ode to Joy - aka "mi mi mi"), and alpaca videos. And speaking of alpacas, with the help of our friend Dave (who owns the alpaca farm that we visited back in April), we have finished finishing our basement which includes an office for Mommy and Daddy and a playroom for my brothers and me. He started back in January when it looked like this. Peekaboo, Mommy and Daddy!
But very quickly it began to take shape: Up go the walls......and the doors and ceiling. (Here's me back in March checking out the progress).
In the few spare minutes that Mommy and Daddy have these days, they've been painting and installing the flooring to finish it up. Then, they brought in the TOYS!!Nice acoustics down here!Daddy made me this chalkboard which take up almost this entire wall! Here's my first piece of artwork on it. I call it "Wheatfields".
I soon discovered the colored chalk to make my second picture.Another great feature of my playroom is the built-in terrarium. A family of frogs has made its home in the window well outside the egress window. We're guessing that they came to feast on the family of flies that was here last week, feasting on the mouse who fell into the well and couldn't figure out how to get out (even after several attempts to chew through the screen).
Thanks for the biology lab, Dave!

Hooray for my new playroom! Give me some boom!

Summer Fun!

Summer is here!! As you'll recall, last summer I spent most of my time taking mini-vacations with Mommy and Daddy. However, now that I have 2 tiny little brothers to take care of this summer, I'll probably be spending most of my days closer to home. And that's fine with me. Earlier this week, I said, "Mommy home. Daddy home. Kaira happy now." (Obviously, I missed having everyone together while Mommy was in the hospital on bed rest.)

Here are some of my favorite things that I've been doing so far this summer:

I continue to love to play with blocks. Not only can I do this puzzle, but I also know the names of most of the shapes, too. (The trapezoid is my favorite!)
Look! I can even do it with one hand behind my back!

I also love to draw and color. Just give me a piece of paper, a pack of stickers, and a box of crayons and watch me live up to my ninja name: The Friendly Artist.

I'm still a super reader, too! Would you like me to read you a book?

While those things are all so very fun to do, my favorite part about the summer is the warmer weather. So, now that the snow is melted and the grass is green, let's go outside and play!

I'd better put on my sunglasses!

Have you ever seen a more beautiful day? Have you ever seen a more beautiful girl?

I've discovered a passion for gardening this summer and have been taking good care of my beautiful flowers. Kaira, Kaira, quite contrary...how does your garden grow?

Mommy and Grammie have been teaching me the names of all of the different plants in my garden. Here's one of my favorites...a marigold!

When I need a break from planting flowers, I like to climb trees!

One day I went strawberry picking with the family. First, Mommy and Daddy showed me how to identify the tastiest berries in the patch.

And then I was off to gather berries on my own. Grammy and Papa, I see some good ones down this row!

Here you go, Daddy...here's what I found! Do we have enough to make jam now?

I'd better sample one...

Or two...

Ok, so maybe we should pay for an additional quart to cover my little "snack."

Ooh! Look, flowers in the strawberry patch! Can I pick them, too?

Here's Papa figuring out once and for all whether I "love him" or "love him not". I LOVE HIM!

Even rainstorms can't ruin my summer days! That's because I've discovered the joy of playing in puddles!

Um...I might need a new outfit now, Mom. I just couldn't resist.

And after a long summer day of playing outside, nothing is better than a sippy cup full of juice!

Here's to more fun-filled summer days!!
