And Even More Summer Fun!

The summer's not over yet, so the fun's not over yet either!August was the month of guests. Gram and Pops came up for another visit and I got to have all my grandparents in one place again. How wonderful!!My cousins from new Hampshire also stopped by. Here's me reading "Goodnight Moon" to Camryn.Um, Taryn. I think we're supposed to keep our bums on the couch.Isn't my playroom the best?!?!While they were here, we tried to go see the "breakfast ponies" (i.e., have breakfast at the track). But, apparently the horses don't eat breakfast on Tuesdays, so we had to go to Friendly's instead. My Aunt Jenni and Uncle Scott came up to visit from DC. During their visit, we actually DID get to see the ponies and have breakfast with them!Look at me! I can gallop, too!!Jenni and Scott also took me to the carousel in downtown Saratoga Springs. I was too scared to sit on one of the horses, but my mommy held me tight while we went around and around.I even got a sticker after the ride was over!Man! All this sightseeing can really wear a girl down.In between visits from guests, I've been enjoying all of the fun things that upstate New York has to offer - like abundant sunshine! What a lovely day for a bike ride......or a game of dodge ball!I love playing with sidewalk chalk. Here, Daddy and I each drew a snowman. Can you tell which one I did?Whoa! Double rainbow!Speaking of rainbows, here's one I spotted during one of our family walks through the neighborhood. On Thursday evenings, we've been going up to Lake George to play in the sand, watch the boats go by, listen to the community band concerts, and watch the FIREWORKS!Ooh...my favorite...Stars and Stripes Forever!!It's getting dark. Almost time for the fireworks!OOOOOH! AAAAAAH!!I liked the fireworks, but they sure were noisy. I kept saying that they were "pretty" and "loud", but mostly they were "pretty loud." Grammie taught me this neat trick of holding my ears so I could enjoy the show. One Sunday night, we headed down the street from Grammie and Papa's house to Sprinkles Ice Cream Shoppe where a local jazz band performed. We saw lots of stars and stripes, but didn't hear any. Did I mention that Sprinkles is an ice cream shoppe? Hmm...I wonder which is better: chocolate ice cream or vanilla ice cream. Only one way to find out! Papa gave me a taste of his chocolate... and Grammie gave me a taste of her vanilla. Gee...tough call. I'd better take some more samples. Chocolate... ..or vanilla...And the verdict is... maybe Mommy should go up and order some strawberry ice cream! Hehe!
My brothers enjoyed the jazz music, too. Wait a second, I'd better make sure that they're paying attention and not sleeping through the concert. When it's too rainy (or too hot) to be outside, we like to go to the mall. My brothers like to see all of the sights and lights and I like to RUN!I like to play on the toy cars and trucks......and Mom and Dad are quite content with the fact that I haven't noticed the huge bounce house set up behind me. At home, I've been enjoying teaching my brothers how to use their fun seats and toys. It's hard to believe that only a little bit ago, this LittleBit was small enough to use these things.I love to imagine and play pretend. Here, I've set up a fancy bistro where my friends can come get some lunch. Today's special - goldfish! Maybe I'll be a chef when I grow up.Or maybe I'll be a city planner. Here I am at Grammie and Papa's house working on my scale model of Glens Falls.Maybe I'll be an architect or a construction worker. Check out my tower! With such steady hands, maybe I'll be a brain surgeon!Or maybe I'll use my amazing sense of style to be a fashion designer. When Mommy took me shopping for shoes one day, I refused to try on the white tennis shoes (I said, "No white. No yike it. No fit.") and instead insisted on the sandals with "pink flowies". Here I am trying my mommy's shoes on for size.On really lazy days, I like to snuggle with my Daddy.Or watch some TV. My favorite shows are on PBS Kids including: Sid the Science Kid, Dinosaur Train, SuperWhy, and The Cat in the Hat.I also like watching Thomas the Tank Engine videos and Veggie Tales videos. Sometimes it's just so hard to get comfortable. And finally, I wanted to confess a problem that I've been having lately. I don't know if it's schizosmilea or smileopsia or what, but sometimes I forget how to smile. It mostly occurs when Mommy is holding a camera aimed at my face and tells me to smile. I just choke under the pressure, knowing that whatever face I make will likely end up on my blog, and then this happens:or this:or this:So, when Mommy tries to take a picture of me, she says "Don't smile!" See...that's better:There it is!! What a beautiful "not-smile!"
